Pedicure hygiene checklist: how to spot a clean salon

What does a truly clean nail salon look like? Use this pedicure hygiene checklist from Allure Nail Bar in Norcross, GA before your next visit.

A great pedicure should feel relaxing - and that starts with knowing it's clean. Here's what we do at Allure, and what you should look for at any salon.

1. Disposable kits for every guest

Files, buffers and liners can't be fully sanitized, so they should be single-use. At Allure, every pedicure uses a 100% disposable kit.

2. Sterilized metal tools

Clippers and pushers should be cleaned and sterilized after each guest - not just wiped. Ours are sanitized and sterilized after every use.

3. Lined or cleaned bowls between guests

Soaking bowls should be cleaned and disinfected between every client, or lined with a fresh liner.

4. No razors on feet

Callus razors can cause cuts. Look for salons that use gentle callus treatments and files instead.

5. A bright, tidy space

Good lighting, clean floors and organized stations are signs of a salon that takes care seriously.

6. Techs who ask about your health

If you have a cut, infection or skin condition, a good technician will want to know - and may suggest waiting.
